Asylum seekers to cost Germany €50bn within 2 years 

Tax money to a considerable extent are required to offer the refugees accommodation and meals as well as a perspective for integration can. This exacerbates the pressure on the public purse. A rapid integration of as many refugees in the labor market is therefore crucial.

Costs for language and integration courses and for education and training, which are estimated for both 2016 and 2017 on flat-rate 5 billion euros, so that the total cost of refugee aid of 22 billion euros in 2016 and 28 billion Euro 2017 result (Table).These amounts are to stem jointly by federal, state and local authorities.

Germany is preparing to allocate tens of billions of euro for migrants’ accommodation, integration and language lessons in 2016-2017. This year, Germany could let in some 1.5 million refugees, compared to 1.1 million in 2015.

A new forecast prepared by the Cologne Institute for Economic Research estimates the incoming asylum seekers will cost the federal budget about €50 billion (US$54.3 billion) in 2016-2017.
